On a road to nowhere With a nail and a flat tyre Hitching on the subway Trying to get higher Driven on the mainline To the cattle market call On a road to nowhere Hidden from your soul The herd is on the move now Stumbling through the smog Bumper to bumper Jogging the dog Dancing on your coffin Is this the way in? Led by a blind man Watching you loosin’ It’s time to break from the mouse Trap the cow with no name Running from the slaughterhouse Like a steak in the game? A dollar, a penny What’s the game anyway Kill the living, steal from the dead? Get out of my head GET OUT OF MY HEAD Our mother is dying Father is crying Son no longer trying Brother, sister stop lying On a road to nowhere Racing the grain Don’t cross, beware You might start using your brain Well can’t you see yourself now Look into the glass Drowning in your conscience To hide this bloody farce But the Dance is resurrecting And the Self denies the lie So step upon the wheel again And take a chance on life Cos’ the only way is someway Nothing is a death Decay in stagnant righteousness Vying for success On a road to nowhere Sitting on the fence See the vultures glare Let’s use our intelligence Driven on the main line To the cattle market call On a road to nowhere Hidden from your soul The herd is on the move now Stumbling through the smog Bumper to bumper Jogging the dog The game is over It’s time to go home We’ll make a new start Until it’s all gone Or the rat trap Forever Lives On
