This evening the sky turned a sombre page The colour slate grey as the wind did rage The clouds beneath rolled slowly by The ether was silent above the sky Timelessness entered and brushed my arm It did not comfort nor alarm It brought a vision of antiquity And with it a sense of futility A strange omniscience hovered around It spoke of the laws by which we are bound We have damaged our earth from sin and greed There had been warnings which we did not heed The plague had been sent to give us time To put back the clock, a mountain to climb We learned to live with clean air again We saw clearer skies and fresher rain But now the cars are back once more And the clouds above they start to roar
