The Scrooge Prophesy

by David Baresch, Japan

“A layer, grand, of garments fine,
That is all that be required,
 Seven winters worth will suffice,
And this, in life, lessens the price!”
These, the words that Scrooge espoused,
When fire’s flicker lowered and dowsed.
 And unknown to Scrooge,
 In that time of steam,
Prophesy in his words there be,
For that which he spake, is that of today,
Such as the mourn of Chernobyl’s fate.
