Day and Night

      by Peter Lee, South Korea

To trip over the roots of a stone
a mere life
in broad daylight
without a ray of light
like a dark black rock
Like a chain of cells that hold your breath.
Surrounded by gray walls in the city,
coming from a distant place
Breathing in the air that doesn't know what to do.
like a frosty window
Looking up at the cloudy sky

with the day running out
When the dark night comes,

in the quiet night sky
The flowing Milky Way.
shining star
flying downward
With a flock of fireflies.
coming from far away
The chirping of grasshoppers and cicadas.
without a moment to miss
It's just one time.
burning chestnuts
A myriad of red and yellow.
It's spreading from here to there.
Loud mechanical noise and noise.
a forgotten landscape of the old night sky

Ah.
The forgotten landscape of the old sky,
The forgotten landscape of the old night sky
I miss you.
